The Power of the Subconscious Mind (Unlocking Our Superpowers)
In many circuses in America, they train elephants to do tricks to amuse humans. Personally, I don’t agree with this weird form of abuse. Regardless, the circus trainers use a particular technique to teach the elephants to perform certain tasks
When they are young, they tie the baby elephant’s leg to a big wooden pole. This young creature pulls and pulls, day after day, trying to roam free. Eventually it associates that whenever it has a chain around its ankle, it cannot move around. This belief sets into the elephant’s Subconscious Mind. When it grows up, it still associates the chain around its ankle with staying in one place. Thus, all the trainer must do is put a chain around the elephant’s ankle, and it will remain in one place, even if it is not tied to anything! The elephant is extremely powerful, though its power has been co-opted by tricking its Subconscious Mind.
Related to the story of the elephant is the “Placebo Effect.” I will summarize my understanding of this process without citing specific scientific studies. The Placebo Effect was discovered after experiments where doctors took two groups of patients and told both groups they were receiving a pill that would cure a specific ailment such as a fever. After several days, the doctors heard back from the patients, almost everyone in both groups reported that their fever was nearly out of their system or totally gone. The miraculous thing was that only one group received a pill that actually contained medicine to cure a fever. The patients in the other group merely received a “sugar pill” (Placebo pill) with no medicinal value. It was because they believed they were receiving a healing pill that their fever went away. The belief itself went into their Subconscious Mind, and then their body produced the necessary antibodies to fight off the fever.
So with the Placebo Effect, we can see that a Positive Belief accepted into the Subconscious Mind can create a Positive Outcome, but what about a Negative Belief? This is what the cutting edge Biologist Bruce Lipton has coined the “Nocebo Effect.” This is when someone or something influences you to believe a thought that ultimately does not serve your greatest good.
The Nocebo can affect your beliefs around personal health, beliefs around money, and/or beliefs about other cultures. If you believe that your health is mostly determined by your genes and certain health issues like Arthritis and Cancer run in your family, then you have essentially taken a Nocebo pill, and will probably manifest Arthritis and Cancer. If you believe that “money is the root of all evil,” or that it’s morally virtuous to be poor, then you will most likely live in poverty. If you are taught to believe that all Muslim people are evil, then you will probably stray away from any Muslim people, and live in some degree of hate / fear due to this Nocebo belief you hold. Lastly, the story of the elephant mentioned earlier is an example of the Nocebo effect, because a deep-seated limiting belief created a negative outcome.
From age 0 to 6, as children, we are in a developmental phase where we have yet to establish a “Conscious Mind.” Therefore we are essentially like blank CD Discs, being downloaded with all of the beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors of our family and social environment. We have no reference point to say “this is not what I want to believe.” We just simply believe what we are told and act in a way to get our basic needs met.
Science shows that our bodies are made of approximately 75% water. Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto has demonstrated that water has “memory”, meaning that it is imprinted by the energy and intention of the environment. He froze water crystals after repeatedly saying different phrases at them.
Phrases like “Harmony” and “I love you” yielded symmetrical, beautiful crystals, while “I hate you” and “Fear” yielded asymmetrical, chaotic patterns.
Our physical bodies carry an Energetic Imprint of our environmental conditions just like the water crystals. We are especially imprinted during our first six years, because we have no way to filter / discard information using our Conscious Mind.
Now, let's add in the fact that psychologists say 95% of our daily behavior is run by the Subconscious Mind. This means that the large majority of our actions as adults are a result of the “Energetic Imprints” that we received before age 7.
