14 Self-Care Tools and Practices for Quarantine
During this time of isolation, it is important for us to take care of our Mental, Physical, and Emotional well-being. If you are caring for children, still working a lot, or caring for others in this time, that can add to the stress level. If you are feeling lonely, stressed, or worried, hopefully some of these tools or practices may help you feel more balanced within yourself.
These tools are very simple to use, some are free, and some are available to buy online. Each one of these has helped me a lot at some point in my life. Each post offers a link to a video or direct link to buy the item. Simply click/tap on the title of each numbered item to follow the link :
Healing / Therapeutic Music : There are tons of these online. They are great for help falling asleep, or to practice yoga/meditation.
Octopus Head/Body Massagers : There are many versions of these online and this is my favorite model. These are great for self-care, or to use with a friend or pet. They are great for releasing muscle tension/reducing headaches, and feeling pleasurable tingles/goosebumps throughout the body. I’ve found them helpful for healing past trauma, and allowing my body to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System (rest and digest.) They can be used on the head, shoulders, back, and really anywhere on the body. Can’t recommend these enough!
Tennis Ball Massage : Simple, low cost way to massage your feet, back, and other sore areas.
Foam Roller : These are remarkably powerful for relaxing muscle tension in the legs and back. I’m a big fan of the the 24 in.x 6in. option.
Free Guided Meditations : There are many great free meditations online. I recommend this simple one from Eckhart Tolle.
Supportive Groups on Facebook : If you have any hobbies or passions, there is probably a Facebook Group with likeminded folks. Also, if you struggle with a Mental Health or Physical issue, there is likely a support group where you can share what you’re going through and connect with other people in a similar situation. Here is just one example of a Peer to Peer Mental Illness Support Group.
Massage Gun aka Tension Melter : These are powerful for releasing deep muscle tension. Please be gentle with these and ease into any painful/tight areas. The option with the foam ball on the end is optimal for most massages.
Online Courses : Shameless plug for the “2020 Vision” Course that I offer. It is a DIY, 4-wk. Course which supports you in clarifying your vision for a more Holistic Lifestyle, and also any creative projects you want to manifest. I led this with 17 ppl back in January and it went very well. The Course also provides you with tools and practices to keep up with your intentions and manifest your vision. I’m offering it on a major discount. Shiatsu Back Massage Pillow : 40$ goes a long way with this magical tool for giving a solid back massage, and also has a heated option.
Free Online Yoga Classes : Yoga is a phenomenal practice for overall well-being, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I highly recommend Yoga with Adrienne, who has hundreds of great videos on Youtube for all levels.
